There’s a paradox in Aquarius and its theme of authenticity to self and alignment with others. When Astrologers - myself included! - explore a transit involving this sign, we have to manage the tension between belonging to self and belonging to something bigger than ourselves. In expressing your most unique self and thus realizing everyone’s special so then is anyone special? In finding purpose and meaning between standing alone and daring to disrupt the status quo and standing with others and facilitating repair and/or consensus. You can see the contradiction here. Aquarius is both the sign of the occasionally eccentric individualist AND the community-focused humanitarian. How?! You see the beauty and complication of Astrology is it normalizes the paradox and contradiction as not a problem or polarity that needs to be solved but an energy that needs to be managed. When I reflect on the most high-minded Aquarius energy in my life and in popular culture, they are people and British girl groups who say “Spice up your life!” AND “Friendship lasts forever.” When we find what specific spice we bring to the party, others can match our willingness and then bring their spice to the party too. There’s an almost transcendent experience of “Aquarius” when you’re gathering with a truly diverse and multi-dimensional friendship group and/or community and you’re cultivating a meaningful connection. That’s Aquarius.
Of all the aspects in this Supermoon, I love the Mars (in Virgo) trine to Jupiter (in Taurus) the most. Reason being; Aquarius’ themes are large and in charge. We’re talking about community, revolution, and social change - which can feel sometimes too big to grasp and enact. With the Mars-Jupiter trine, we’re remembering that small steps and small goals are the best way to enact big changes. We want to crawl before we start sprinting. So know that whatever tiny changes you make in the service of expressing your unique self so others can match you will be heavily rewarded in a big way. Pay close attention to how the little shifts make a big impact on the individual and communal dimensions of your life. Especially because Venus is currently retrograde in Aquarius’ opposite sign Leo and Mercury will begin its pre-retrograde shadow phase slowly which inspires us to slow down, reevaluate, and reconsider.
