The season of practicality is upon us, and officially initiated under this new moon in Virgo. Change is in the air and there are pulls to redefine and assess plans, habits and directions.

A somewhat careful approach may be required to actioning a plan with Mercury in its shadow period prior to turning retrograde. Remain aware of impulsive behaviour or decisions, pause and feel into something a little longer before taking the next step, giving ourselves space to break habits that don't serve our evolution anymore.

The connection between the emotional and physical body always has messages for us, let them speak. Digestion is highlighted in Virgo season, mindful consumption can go a long way when we pause, feel and then decide. We can decide what habits to keep and eliminate at any moment, but are supported right now, even if it feels uncomfortable. Feeling stuck: move the body to release tension and unwind the mind. Eased minds, smooth digestion.

When it comes to improving our life, I think we often anticipate that the complexity of the solution absolutely must match the complexity of the problem. Sometimes that’s true. And sometimes it isn’t. The wisdom of all the earth signs is that life is complicated but truth is simple. Virgo’s wisdom, as the only mutable-earth sign, and so the one that helps us make transitions, reminds us that their solutions and approaches aren’t difficult but they’re different. What’s difficult is getting over our resistance to doing things differently. Transitions are difficult because they invoke a wide range of full-contact emotions; grief, anxiety, fear, excitement, ambiguity, etc.  So “Virgo” - said simply - is the simple, transitional space that helps us approach life differently.
