Usually, it’s a financial attachment. And/or an external circumstance that endangers our safety. My doubt comes from the tension that yes, there are certain contexts outside of us that help us feel safe, and we can decide to attach to them. Also, there is no number, no context, no person that can guarantee safety for us the way that we perhaps wish. Said simply, I want to imagine how Taurus helps us decide what intrinsic safety is with very little material attachment to the externals. All I can do here and now is express how I’ve decided what this Taurus-ruled security is for me, and hopefully, this could be helpful for you, too.
First, I’ll say it started with doubt. I’m blessed to be surrounded by many Taurus individuals who didn’t necessarily express the attachment to the material concerns of this world. From there, I had my doubts about Taurus as THE sign attached to the material and economic contexts of this world. Don’t get me wrong, my Taurus friends love to get paid, as my Taurus astrologer Maria DeSimone helped me see. But I noticed a different common denominator that my high-minded Taurus loved ones embody, and this is where I started to see Taurus security radically differently.
What they all had in common was that they simply, radically and unapologetically decided what their values were and lived into them uniformly. There’s a Buddhist concept known as the 'near enemy', which suggests that we can confuse a virtue with something that appears similar, but actually undermines it. The near enemy of lived value is financial value. One is embodied intrinsically; the other is externally measured. That’s the misunderstanding we’re often caught in. Thinking security is relegated by income rather than integrity. The Taurus people I know live out this truth: security comes from values made visible through behavior.
Aries
