We are of the earth.

The waters of Scorpio seep and permeate deeply into all of the crevices, deep into subterranean depths. Changing shape to fit new caverns, accumulated drops nestled in pockets of rocks and dirt all the way down to the pools that hear the whispers of heart of the world we live on.

I'm always curious watching ants before a storm rolls in. Not just one nest, but all nests, a collective action to an invisible but cellular known change.

Or when spiders show up inside your home a few days before the rain. A collective knowing that the earth's weather patterns are shifting and to seek shelter.

I often wonder when there is collective disharmony if we are driven by an invisible undercurrent, being of the earth.

Or if the disharmony itself needs to be shifted by the earth to create space for new perspectives and a different hum in the cells of all living things.

Uranus pulls at the waters of this new moon, a potent one that may reveal the unexpected, that may shift signals, like a radio station changing channels.

We've been in the static, looking for new sounds that reveal something truthful, authentic, that connects.

The unknown is a fertile space, its uncomfortable, deeply uncomfortable. But from within it something new does grow. Something new is revealed. Something new is found.

Channel what is stirring this new moon into moving the body, into being with the earth, into submerging in water.

Into creating safety, into connecting with others.

And listen.

Take the trust leap. When Scorpio is involved, and its effects are felt even more powerfully with Mars in Scorpio forming a conjunction to the New Moon in the same sign, it’s all about trust. Trust – like so many words – is overused but underdefined. Together let us examine the consensus on trust so we know not just what to do, but who to be for the New Moon in Scorpio. My new favorite definition of Trust comes from Rachel Bottsman who names it as “...a confident relationship with the unknown.” I love this definition for both its simplicity and complexity.

When we think of trust, we don’t often think of its twin – the unknown. I find in my own life, and in the conversations I have with clients, family, and friends, we often think about trust as moving from the unknown to the known. Or when there’s “certainty” on the table, that’s how we know we can trust someone or something. According to Bottsman’s definition, we have it upside down. I think that’s a complicated concept because it disproves dominant social messaging. It’s also very simple (but not to be confused with “easy”) in that trust helps us relate, engage, and experience the unknown. The New Moon reflection in Scorpio reminds us that the divine Will of the universe empowers us with foresight and the ability to evolve. When I read this reflection, I was reminded of Scorpio and how we’re crossing the bridge from the known to the unknown with a greater sense of what trust isn’t, and what trust is.

Though no Scorpio transit – or any Astrological sign, or experience – can collapse uncertainty, I do think Scorpio prioritizes the intuitive knowledge we all use when examining the unknown. From dreams, gut hunches, horoscopes, oracle cards, and any and every metaphysical modality in between, these resources help us gain the foresight that helps us have a confident relationship with the unknown. With this in mind, a little doubt and humility is completely normal and even encouraged by Bottsman when it comes to trust. Remember, Bottsman’s definition didn’t say “a certain relationship with the unknown” but “a confident relationship”. So let us normalize the doubt and humility that create a grounded confidence. Without a healthy humility or doubt, it’s not grounded confidence but grandiosity.

This New Moon is opposite Uranus in Taurus and sextiling Neptune in Pisces. With Taurus and Pisces integrated into a Scorpio transit, it speaks to normalizing doubt, leaning on intuitive knowledge, AND experiencing a sense of security to move towards the unknown – because nothing new happens in the known. What we need now is to slowly, and in small ways, trust the new because the changes we seek are there, not here.
