You contain multitudes. You contradict yourself. As I typed that, I felt a sting of discomfort because I - like you - have been conditioned to believe it’s an insult. In many other contexts, it’s actually the truth of who we are. Not as an insult. You contain multitudes of contradictions, polarities, oppositions, and dialectic tensions.
When Libra Season began this year, I realized that “balance” wasn’t enough to explain this sign. It’s also not exactly clear when I ask my readers to “balance” what exactly they’re being asked TO balance. When Libra Season has us managing a balance, I think it’s the contradictions within us. The polarities we all hold. The push-pulls that we feel and often problematize because of our polarized world. When it comes to cultivating self-harmony, I think we want to frame the “Self” as a multitude of contradictions. Further, we can create harmonious relationships when we normalize the truth that others contain just as many contradictions as us. It’s not easy but it’s the truth.
When examining the Solar Eclipse in Libra, I wondered about the contradictions in all of our characters and then I realized that Astrology already illuminates these contradictions. If we see the six pairs of opposite signs as the multitudes we’re all holding, we can then understand what we’re balancing. With Aries and Libra, we realize that we can want both separation and connection with the same people. Gemini and Sagittarius want us to smarten up not just through research and theory, but experimentation and experience. When Cancer and Capricorn speak on our inner dialogue, we need to both nurture and challenge ourselves to grow. Leo and Aquarius want us to stand alone to define and declare who we are while finding ourselves when we join something bigger than ourselves. The wisdom of Virgo and Pisces is that simple, practical steps can be where we find the magic and transcendence through art, creativity, and spirituality can be your path to divinity too. So maybe these six stories are what we need to find self-harmony with.
Especially since Venus newly in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces helps you introduce these contradictions in your connections and find them as a source of not just the occasional conflict but chemistry too. Additionally, this New Moon is conjunct Mercury in Libra furthering the necessity for us to depolarize and make contact with the contradictions within and with others for the highest level of harmony.
