Ready, set - balance! A New Moon in Libra couldn’t be arriving at a more opportune time, as we could all stand to depolarize our thinking and find the ever elusive “balance”. The field that Rumi invited us to; beyond right and wrong, there’s “the field”. Let us meet there.
The truth is, we learn comparatively. Libra knows this. So if we’re asked to depolarize, what does polarization look like? When you think there’s your way and their way. When we fight for reliability, predictability, and consistency or novelty, surprise, and innovation. When you believe we have to love ourselves before we learn how to love others. There’s more because polarity thinking permeates so much of our collective, social, and relational conversation. Of course sometimes there is a single, right answer. And there’s significant validity in the single, right answer for protecting the truth, establishing continuity and protecting ourselves from what Barry Johnson calls, “…the world of wrong alternatives.” There are times and places where the world of wrong alternatives is problematic, but not in a Libra transit.
The New Moon in Libra inspires us to move from either/or thinking to both/and problem solving. It’s not just “consistency”. It’s consistency AND innovation; reliability AND novelty. It’s freedom, autonomy AND connection, negotiation. When we move from “or” to “and”, that’s Libra. There’s probably no place that demands that from us more than the art of relating. Despite how seemingly good it would make us feel, we gain nothing from being “right” all the time. When we broaden our horizons and allow for many different, sometimes contradicting, often complementary truths to coexist, we can relate. It’s incredibly easy to be right all the time and alone. Not so easy to be right all the time and deeply connected to others. I’ve heard it said that couple’s therapy can often be summarized as “Do you want to be right or do you want to be married?”
Under the New Moon in Libra, I invite you to review your life for “either/or” thinking and consider how you can make small steps towards “both/and”. When we can do that and maintain our closest relationships, we understand the power of the balanced scales. And our lives literally depend on it. Study after study, clinician after neuroscientist all sing the same song - the quality of our life is determined by the quality of our relationships. There’s hardly anything more ethically effortful than learning how to cognitively and communicatively adapt across relationships to broaden our horizons in our relationships.
I’d argue the most important aspect of this New Moon in Libra is its almost exact opposition to Jupiter in Aries, because it holds the theme of Libra beautifully which is: how do we hold Aries ruled “me” and Libra ruled “we” while relating? That’s what the balance of Libra is: autonomy and connection. Because the New Moon is opposite Jupiter in Aries, I have a feeling that Jupiter’s beneficial influence can help us hold this delicate, life-defining balance. So let’s leave right versus wrong and find the field beyond; the balance, the both/and, not-only-but-also this New Moon in Libra.

Happy Birthday, Libra! This annual New Moon in your sign around your birthday wants your most specific, brave intentions on becoming a newer version of yourself. Apply the best of what you already do; balance, negotiation, and understanding and then intend to self-actualize into the fullest version of your autonomy while maintaining connection to others. May all your wishes come true!
Scorpio
Completion, Surrender, Healing & Spiritual Support
Take a sabbatical, Scorpio. The New Moon in Libra activates your closure and rest sector and is looking for your intentions and willingness to “do less”. Which is so hard! Though this month asks you to move more slowly and spaciously so you can process all the transformation that the last year has provided with you and you can live into that awareness when Scorpio Season begins soon!

Connections AND competence, Capricorn. The New Moon in Libra reminds you that everyone knows you can “do the job” and so now you’re being asked to get more relationally connected and supportive of colleagues. The more you can support and be supported by others, the more likely the Universe will elevate your professional intentions to the highest level.
Aquarius
Wisdom, Publishing, Discovery & Higher Education
When you know better, Aquarius! The New Moon in Libra in your wisdom zone inspires you to review the key-learnings over the last six months and situate which behaviors support you applying that wisdom. You’re asked to learn experientially; not just theoretically. Whether that’s through travel and/or education, this New Moon wants to expand all your horizons.
Pisces
Intimacy, Empathy, Sexuality & Transformation
Let’s get intimate, Pisces. In the wise words of Terry Real, “The paradox of real love is that our capacity to sustain intimacy rests on our capacity to tolerate aloneness inside the relationship.” This New Moon in Libra wants you to tolerate a sense of aloneness within a relationship so that you experience intimacy; not intrusion. Differentiation, not isolation. Ask for the Universe’s healing for this endeavor and you’ll get it!
