Read the New Moon reflection and then read it again four more times. Since five is Leo’s lucky number, given its chronological placement. So much so, that Leo CoCo Chanel named her iconic perfume after it! Make sure you do all things Leo five times — especially when it comes to self-esteem. Like so many things in our culture, we have self-esteem upside down and Leo turns self-esteem right side up.

When it comes to Leo ruled self-esteem, it’s a matter of both holding yourself in high regard AND staying humble to being a work in progress. Terry Real talks about self-esteem as being not better than or worse off, but the same as. Just like everyone else, you — no more but never less — are worthy of loving and belonging, and you get to work on your stuff to improve the quality of your vitality and relationships. You can’t access Leo without realizing that you have both lovability right now and a lot to learn. Say that five times! I love that the 2025 New Moon in Leo opens up a reimaging of Leo fairly early into the season. After Mars dipped in and out of the earliest degrees of Leo throughout this year, the early degree of Leo is a hot topic. I’d love for you to think about November 5 2024 until January 6 2025 and then April 18-29 2025 of this year for some insight into what this New Moon is asking you to re-evaluate when it comes to your self-esteem. Did particular points of view, patterns and/or people support and/or scrutinize your self-esteem? Chances are, yes — all of the above. Bring it all to the New Moon in Leo and bring your intentions too, around how you can see yourself as both lovable and learning in the process. Talk to yourself both gently and with grit so you can hold this both/and idea to bring your self-esteem right side up.

This New Moon is in a sextile to Uranus in Gemini, supporting a new language for self-esteem. Communication becomes the site of insight, where something clicks through conversation, an idea or the courage to say something new. Uranus brings originality, not chaos. When sextiling a Leo Moon, that originality serves growth. At the same time, Mars conjunct the South Node in Virgo squares Venus in Gemini, asking for a more honest evaluation of where habits and self-protection have shaped the way you relate. Perfectionism, pleasing and overfunctioning are often seen as communication tools, but they cost clarity. Small goals help here. Ask yourself, "What does self-expression look like today, in real-time?" Let the words be simple and let them reflect your inner worth.

Interestingly, six months from now is the exact Saturn–Neptune conjunction in Aries — a first transit of its kind since 1989. This is a New Moon to inquire honestly about what kind of self is required to move through the new beginning that the collective will experience then. And what bravery do you need to begin this new character? The New Moon in Leo is your invitation to begin again — with self-regard, with intention and with the clarity to follow through.
