Although Aquarius made sense to me then, the opposition of Leo and Aquarius only recently started to come into being. And since we only have the annual Full Moon in Aquarius during Leo Season, we have to see how the Leo sunlight is reflected on the Aquarius Full Moon. When I think of this pair, I see the Leo star meet the Leo constellation. Your identity as the star shining inside the collective assembly of the constellation. In order for us to belong with Aquarius, we have to understand how we belong to our Leo-ruled selves. Also, I think of Leo as the entertainer while Aquarius is the educator. Leo is the artist. Aquarius is the activist. Leo wants to inspire while Aquarius wants to inform. Leo rules the deepest heart; Aquarius rules the righter mind.


So you can see — while they may make contextual sense as you read these words, do they translate into concrete steps toward behavior? The truth is, we need our artistry to carry our activism. Our education thrives when it’s entertaining. Our brains want to be touched by competence, and our hearts want to be moved by warmth. Sometimes we split the ambivalence by leaning into one sign a bit more than the other. And there’s a ton of sociocultural motivations for this. Though I think the way to truly change the world is to bring Leo and Aquarius together at this time. When both come online, we build collectives that are both enlivened and effective. Heart and mind. Style and system. Real change loves charisma.


And perhaps Mercury retrograde in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius is driving this point home. As the world becomes more Aquarian — higher mind, technological, connected and informed — we need to remember that it’s our hearts that make us human too, not just our big brains. Adding to this energy is Mars in Libra opposing Saturn and Neptune in Aries, so we’re asked to integrate all the oppositions we can in astrology. Belonging is paradoxical. We both have to belong to ourselves and sometimes stand alone from communities. While also knowing when to get over ourselves and stand with a community. Try to hold all the contradictions and paradoxes you’re observing, both intrinsically and externally. Don’t see them as problems to be resolved, but powers to be managed. If you accept and language those contradictions, then you’re once again letting your identity shine through the lens of the collective. Tell us what you want, what you really really want — and show us who you are while you do it. The collective needs your spice.
