Full Moon in Leo at 05° 14’

Ready, set - ROAR! The first Full Moon of 2024 arrives in Leo helping us begin the new year with the confident acceptance that we are fundamentally worthy – right now, exactly as we are! – of love, joy, and belonging. From the sunbeams of Leo, we shine in the light of realizing this is our birthright. In a world that makes worthiness negotiable, circumstance-dependent, and situationally based, Leo helps us take a different stand. A stand that says, “I’m a work in progress AND I’m worthy.” From there, we refuse to believe the voices inside and around us that make us believe anything else. 

This is actually one of my favorite, most consistent experiences of working as an Astrologer. Once I see a client’s chart and listen to their story, I have the honor of telling the story of why they’re fundamentally worthy. This is the Leo gift. It reminds you that you’re the one you’ve been waiting for. You have everything already. Let’s see what you’re made of because it’s showtime! If you have a hard time believing what you’re reading, that’s normal. The world tells us we’re unworthy, incapable, and sometimes don’t deserve to be loved. We have so much unlearning to do in order to learn Leo. We may have to get our hearts broken, experience failure, setback, and/or disappointment on the path to Leo, but we will learn what this sign teaches us and we can begin by listening to our hearts. The brightest star in the Leo constellation is the Lion’s Heart, also known as Regulus. When we can understand and even speak the story of who we are with our whole worthy hearts, then we learn Leo. If there’s one small thing you can say, define, and/or declare under the Full Moon in Leo, give yourself the stage to do it. Nobody can make that stage but you. 

The Full Moon in Leo has a compelling opposition to Pluto newly in Aquarius. I think it is curious because we often distance ourselves from becoming the star at risk of the constellation. In other words, we don’t allow ourselves to shine because we are afraid of out outshining, standing apart, and calling unwanted attention to ourselves. What if we saw our ability to be the star as integral to the constellation? What if we realized that when we stand in our light, we give others the same permission to shine theirs? We don’t need to fold ourselves in half to make other people feel taller. We can stand our sacred ground and invite others to do the same. I would love to see us integrate, not alternate, Leo and Aquarius in this way. That way, we realize every constellation needs it stars. So let’s see yours shine! Jupiter will form a square to the Full Moon adding some Jupiter magic to mix. Especially if we ask what values encourage us to be louder and prouder in the pursuit of our dreams. A Mercury-Mars conjunction gives us the cognitive and physical resilience to be a bit braver – which I’m sure will feel like an answered prayer. This combination of aspects ought to inspire you to live into your values resiliently in ways that help you feel worthy of love, joy, and belonging.
