At first, there were two! The Full Moon in Gemini takes flight to the skies on December 4th, reminding us that in the very beginning of the zodiac, there is belonging. As a Gemini stellium myself, I love remembering and reminding others that the introduction of humanity in Astrology, as the Gemini Twins, shows us in connection. That’s not unintentional, it's divine.
One of my favorite ideas from A Course in Miracles discusses how ‘Peace is entered two by two.’ In other words, we can’t get to peace and enlightenment in isolation. It’s entered two by two. Connection by connection. That’s another way of seeing Gemini. As the introduction of the relational intelligence that helps us find our way back to each other throughout the twins’ myth of harmony, disharmony and repair. Which isn’t just myth, but math too. Ed Tronick’s revolutionary research on relationships put forward that healthy relationships keep up with the ‘dance’ of closeness, disruption and a return to closeness. If you know the myth of Gemini, that’s exactly what happened with Castor and Pollux, and if you’ve ever related with another, you know that’s what happens sometimes in an hour. So in thinking about the Full Moon in Gemini, we’re thinking about the way human beings are neurobiologically hardwired to connect for survival, and we use our dialogue skills to find our way in the dance of harmony, disharmony and repair. The Full Moon Illumination “I am in control of the narratives that my mind engages with.” inspires us to think about how we stay in control of our narratives through conversation.
Because Gemini loves ‘both/and’, on an individual level, we are responsible for letting curiosity, not certainty, write the narratives our mind engages with. It’s so crucial to stay open to new information, a bit of confusion and some defensive distortion when we’re in some emotionally flammable territory. On a relational level, and in keeping with the idea of Gemini as the sign of interpersonal intelligence, you stay in control of the narrative your mind engages with as you move from monologue to dialogue. When you keep your narratives curious by asking others, “Can I just fact-check something with you?” “Did you mean for that to come across as (insert interpretation here)?” “The story I’m telling about it is…” You’re entering peace two by two. You’re moving through the dance of relationships by staying light on your feet, and the levity is key to this Full Moon in Gemini.
The secret behind every relationship’s success is often how not so seriously we take ourselves, while we take the relationship very seriously. I write this because the backdrop of this Full Moon is a Grand Water Trine with Jupiter in Cancer, Mercury in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces, which is beautiful for our inner subjective experience. However, it is sometimes challenging when it comes to believing everything we’re feeling. Like Dr. Susan David says, “Emotions are data. Not directives” So let the data reveal itself this Full Moon in Gemini and stay curious, not certain about what it means for your relationships because more than likely this Full Moon will kick up feelings in our connections and we want to stay light on our feet and in our words to move from disharmony to repair with a swiftness.
If all of this doesn’t amount to anything, just know that this Full Moon in Gemini can be a bit of a wildcard and remember to lighten up. Nothing is truly ever that serious. And when we’re laughing our way through the sheer absurdity that is the human experience, we can often find not just peace but pleasure in all that it means to be bumbling our way around a floating rock in the middle of outer space!! If peace is entered two by two, then maybe this Full Moon is the hand that reaches for yours mid-conflict. The laugh that breaks the tension. The question that opens a heart. Stay curious. Stay connected. Let your words bring you home.
