We say goodbye to one astrological cycle and bring in a new, as we drop through this Aries new moon.
The first of 2 Ram ruled new moons, with the second in April igniting eclipse season.
Drawing the entire universe from the realms of Pisces who holds all, and squeezing it out through a pinhole of ‘I AM'.
Aries is like the first sound at the beginning of the universe, birthing itself over again.
A force beyond force.
The primordial fire.
This new moon calls for the seeds of bold action, confidence and leadership in your life.
Squaring Mars, it’s fiery. Full fledged action is not quite ripe yet, but the seeds of inspiration go in now! This is a potent time of realignment and finding balance again.
What inspires you, what gives you confidence, who are YOU now compared to a year ago?
Transformation is on the horizon and our minds are starting to form ideas around what this might be. It can feel foreign and jarring while still thin-skinned from our Pisces dive, but we build the fire, let it burn, and our energy rises to face a new dawn.
Welcome to a New Astrological Year.
May it be all you desire it to be and more.
New Moon Aries at 0° 49’
Happy New Year! That’s right. On the first day of the Sun in the first zodiac sign, we have our Astrological new year. On the first day of Aries Season, we begin again. What’s particularly compelling about this New Year is on the first day of Aries Season, we have a New Moon in Aries. The last time this happened was March 20th 2004. So as you can see, it’s not that common. Which begs the question; how do we leverage this New Moon powerfully on the first day of the New Year?
What I think of often during an Aries ruled transit is we typically have the following personal development question backwards. We typically ask, “What do I have to have, to do what I want to do, to become who I want to be?” Right? Have, do, then be. Aries says, “Wrong!” Aries reminds us that we have to be a person of character and do the right things in order to have what we want to have. It’s not the having, that makes us do, so we can be. It’s the being, which provides us the foundation for doing, and ultimately the having. Be. Do. Have.
First fashioned by Steven Covey, the be-do-have model is so Aries because Aries is the sign of identity. Of being. It’s also the precondition for rest of the 11 zodiac sign’s self-actualization. It’s not more time, more money that we necessarily need to do and then be what we want. It’s perhaps the disciplined being, the concentrated being, that helps us do and then have. This premise is so radically different from what the world teaches us and I think that’s perhaps why we’re technically receiving 2 New Moons in Aries this month because at the end of Aries Season is the first Solar Eclipses - a supercharged New Moon ! - that we’ll have on the Aries-Libra axis for the next 2.5 years.
So perhaps this New Moon is the beginning of the being. So ask yourself, “Who do I want to be? Confident? Decisive? Generous? Boundaried? Flexible? From there, you can ask yourself, “What do confident people do? What do decisive people do?” And then of course, you’ll gradually living into the having of what confident and decisive people do. It’s a radical shift on our Aries ruled identities that will have powerful effects on your doing and having.
On Thursday, changing signs for the first time since 2008, Pluto will enter communal Aquarius for twenty years. So I also want you to think about who you want to be within a system of mass mutual reliance. How do you want to give? What time, talent and treasure do you want to share? What are you hoping to receive from others? Think about identity and healing and success in a more relational, communal context and then see how Pluto’s monumental entrance in Aquarius furthers these concepts. Happy New Year!
