Aquarius new moon reflection:

‘I am the bridge between all generations and can unify the past with the future.’

Continued reflection, visioning, a new spark.

Aquarius season is ushered in with this new moon, but gently for some, and deeply for all.

The inward turns outwards slowly. Clarity is gained more effortlessly. Energy is gently returning to sing new visions to life.

Forward movement is returning and frustrations start to evaporate. Only now does it feel like a beginning. And it is; a lunar new year.

If you started envisioning or planning your year during Mercury retrograde, this new moon is a ripe time to revisit those and plant some seeds. But it doesn’t have to be ultra specific, leave room for shared visions to come to life and new information to seep in and shape what you have already imagined.

There is so much beyond what could ever possibly be imagined that needs room to grow too.

Rigidity turns into flexibility that incorporates and reimagines previously built structures.

Invite in wild possibilities, and welcomed surprises.

The door has opened,

New Moon Aquarius at 01° 32’

Astrologer Colin Bedell says:

Frantz Fanon wrote in The Wretched of the Earth, “...each generation must discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it, in relative opacity.”

In discovering our mission, we are the bridge between all generations and can help contextualize the past within the future. There are so many ideas within “Aquarius” that we can discuss while observing its annual New Moon. I’m so glad the New Moon reflections here focus on how we take the past with us - whether we realize it or not - and how this understanding allows us to steward Aquarius equity and liberation.

As an American who was born in the 1989 generation, I think of Isabel Wilkerson’s ideas in Caste as very emblematic of the New Moon in Aquarius. Though Wilkerson writes on American history, the following metaphor applies to all countries of origin when she argued, “America is an old house. We can never declare the work over... When you live in an old house, you may not want to go into the basement after a storm to see what the rains have wrought. Choose not to look, however, at your own peril. The owner of an old house knows that whatever you are ignoring will never go away.”

As the bridge between all generations, we are responsible for critically examining our histories and the ways in which preceding generations might have left such construction in our country’s old house unfinished. In that way, we follow the Fanon direction and - even in relative opacity - we begin discovering our generation’s mission and hopefully fulfill it. So we can both honor our ancestors’ contributions and repair their harm.

I also think of Aquarius as the breathtaking idea of Martin Luther King Jr. who said, “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” Aquarius is the inescapable network of mutuality that we are all tied in. As you might be realizing, these ideas are big, innovative, visionary, ones. Which is why we’re asked to bring our willingness to understand them to the New Moon in Aquarius so that we might begin realizing the role we play in the inescapable network of mutuality, what our generation’s mission is, and how we can reconstruct our country’s old house.

With the New Moon trine Mars, sextile Jupiter, and forming an out of sign conjunction to Pluto, it gives us a powerful reception for visionary, life-sustaining ideas that repair. History could be very instructive because it’s inspiring to remember that we are not the only generation asked by destiny to implement political miracles. Across the world, we’ve already had them. So now we must understand how to invoke the political miracles required that create a more loving, peaceful, and just civilization. This is how we do our part to make the Age of Aquarius a little less abstract and little more actionable.

What Aquarius also knows is that the quality of the collaboration determines the nature of the result. So utilize this New Moon to help you find your friends, comrades, and community that are a match to your vision. We can achieve so much more together and with support from others than by ourselves, so let the New Moon know your willingness to put the commune back in community.

On a micro level, if you’ve been hoping to reconnect with your friends for more joy and empathy, let them know under this New Moon. Be the friend you’re hoping to receive. Give away what you’re hoping to get. That energy invites incredibly meaningful friendships and the New Moon wants your intentions on that too.
