Moon = Cancer - Libra

The Equinox is upon us. Our astrological new year is initiated when the Sun enters the cardinal fire sign Aries. In the northern hemisphere, this heralds the beginning of spring and in the southern hemisphere, it initiates the fall season. Wherever you are in the world, the Equinox has always been a time when we celebrate the duality of life and nature with the Sun’s journey through the cosmos. The most phenomenal representation and ode to the Equinox by the Mayans lives in the pyramid of Chichen Itza, where the Sun’s shadow casts the shape of a serpent descending down the staircase of the great Kukulkan pyramid. There are many other cultures that revere the time of year when the Sun and the Moon share equal parts of the day because it represents the perfect harmony and balance that is nature’s law. The Sun enters Aries on the 20th/19th at 8:06 pm PST this year, typically it is on March 21st. While the Sun enters the ram, the Moon enters Leo, creating a potent and powerful ring of fire which fuels our desires and ambitions for creative output.

The beginning of the week starts out with Mercury entering its shadow before the retrograde phase at 15° Aries. The shadow period has become quite popular throughout the last few years and is something that most pop-astrologers adhere to when it comes to discussing the Mercury Rx cycle. For those who have strong placements in cardinal signs such as Libra, Capricorn, Cancer and Aries, or with strong Mercury placements/Mercury as your chart ruler, then you may feel an uptick in mental stimulation. The shadow period of the Mercury Rx phase is just simply a time when Mercury begins to visibly 'slow down', a couple of weeks after, on April 1st it will make a complete halt in the sky, stationing direct.

Mars will enter Pisces this week and remain in the water sign until the end of April during the eclipses. Mars will work to soften the effects of the Aries eclipse on April 8th/9th which is a welcome position for Mars to be in. The planet of war and aggression will see itself as a fighter for the underdog, the victim and the unwell – rather than for the egoic self. The Moon moves through Cancer, Leo, Virgo and Libra, sending us through the second quadrant of the zodiac. This quadrant puts emphasis on how we are expressing our emotional selves to others and how we are being received by others in ways that will allow us to consider the best practices for getting noticed.

Monday 18th

Sensing where there may be some push back to us expressing our needs, we formulate a way to communicate what we are experiencing in a productive and coherent way. Mercury, making contact with the North Node in Aries, sets our minds ablaze, amping up the passion within to start those projects that we have been wanting to start for quite some time. We are feeling the pull to take care of the business that we keep talking about. Now it’s time to take action steps.

Tuesday 19th

Happy Equinox! The Sun enters Aries today and the fire is alive. The Moon enters Leo and opposes Pluto, setting a blaze within that can’t be contained. We may feel like something inside is dying away but at the same time while another ripe moment is being born. It is truly a Wheel of Fortune moment where we see the carousel of our lives turning.

Wednesday 20th

We may receive the news that we have been needing to hear, the information or the piece of advice that we require in order to heal and move forward in life. Whether that information is regarding physical health, well-being or just something that gets up amped for tomorrow, remember that wisdom throughout the months ahead because it is a seed that will come to surface later on in the year.

Thursday 21st

Communication is flowing and it’s like we are information addicts. Sometimes it's easier to imagine or talk about an idea than it is to take the first initiatory steps, but don’t let the distractions of conversation get in the way of your productivity! Unless, of course, they are further inspiring you with more ammunition to take charge of your life. Today is a great day to take charge of financial matters and to get serious with how we spend our time and money. We may need to invest resources in order to gain more. Time is money, don’t waste it.

Friday 22nd

How is it possible to go 24 hours with no lunations? I am not sure, but today that is exactly what is happening. Interestingly, Mars enters Pisces today as well so that leaves even more room for random, unsystematic and haphazard moments. This is a goofy day and with no tether for the Moon to hold herself up, it can feel like we’re swimming in a never-ending fish bowl. Be cautious with mind altering substances today as it is already feeling a bit loopy.

Saturday 23rd

Some unexpected urges pop up within us today that get us into a cleaning frenzy. We are feeling the solar motions in play, which tell us that it is time to get to work and start cleaning up the leftovers from last season. Moon enters Virgo and we are no strangers to her need for tidiness, cleanliness and ritual. There is a lot of work to do and we are up to the task!

Sunday 24th

There are good conversations flowing today and a lot of juicy details with the Moon entering social Libra and making a trine to Pluto. There is a lot that we need to talk about and get off our chest. The tea is spilling and we are here to lap it up. We may get lost in the gossip for a moment but it may also be a good day to clear the air with some of your nearest and dearst.
