The Greeks associated Virgo with Astraea, the goddess of purity and innocence who lived among mortals during the mythical Golden Age, an age of harmony and agricultural abundance when there was no disease. She was the last immortal to abandon Earth for Olympus at the decline of the Silver Age, as humans became increasingly corrupt and warlike. According to lore, Astraea will return to earth again one day, heralding a new utopia.
