Venus, in its role as the morning star, stations direct today on the 12th degree and 12th arc minute of Leo. Its turn-around marks the culmination of a journey that began on July 22/23, however, in many ways, the journey is only beginning! All the takeaways earned through six weeks of self-examination, romantic renegotiation, and creative experimentation, now get to be put into practice!
For some of us, Venus’ retrograde has been illuminating and empowering. For others, it has been chaotic and anxiety-inducing. Its effects depended largely upon our personal placements, our identification with the sign of Leo, and our comfort level with Venusian attributes. For those who were sold the lie that pleasure and joy are not ours to claim, daring to imagine their attainment has likely prompted a whole existential crisis in and of itself. Yet, retrograde Venus has ultimately forced a dismantling of that lie. Recognizing where we have settled for less because we believed that we were not deserving of more is the medicine these past months have provided.
The hope is that we have woken up to our own worth, refusing to compromise our newfound high standards. We are entitled to happiness. It is our birthright. But although there is beauty in the breakdown, it will take time to integrate this messaging.
In the midst of Venus’ station, reaffirming and committing to our desires may feel like betraying our better judgment. The inner refrain is “How dare I?” How dare I hope for better in a world that tells me to expect just enough? How dare I follow my heart when following my head is the sensible choice? Fortunately, as Venus begins its forward march, Juno, the goddess asteroid of sacred commitment, loyalty, and fidelity, sidles up to the love planet and keeps pace. It’s as if a fellow traveler has joined Venus on this affirming adventure, encouraging us to remember that the greatest devotional contracts are those that we forge with our own passions.
