Who or what possesses you? The name of the game for Venus in Taurus is to acquire through the art of seduction. Not through a messy display of conquests but through a show of refinement and ease. Taurus moves slowly, intentionally and coordinates 'chance' encounters like its second nature. When the object of desire has been targeted, there is no budging the bull towards an alternative because it takes just as long for a Taurus’ love to wither as it did to move into a state of safety and security. Like a delicate budding sprout, so too is the love of the bull, but once established, takes centuries to uproot.
While Venus is in Taurus, she doesn’t make many incredible aspects which would recount a torrid love affair, but rather a deep look into one’s relationship to whom and what 'belongs' to us. Venus meets with a square to Pluto right as she ingresses into the fixed earth sign, bringing to surface a critical look at how we relate to what we consider our possessions and our belongings.
What keeps you tethered and grounded? We seek security, reliability and a certain level of devotion while Venus makes her way through Taurus, however through her initial square with Pluto and night cap conjunction with Uranus, our relationship to how we seek security in our relationships begs to be questioned. Have we been manipulating a situation, intentionally or not to harness a level of control out of a fear of loss?
On July 4th, just before Venus ingresses into Cancer, she is tossed through the electrical fields of Uranus – sending shockwaves with a chaotic exchange that leaves all previous expectations of love to the wayside. This could come through a situation which expands our capacity for love — opening new doors of perception that lead to a broader understanding of the nature and power of intimacy. Changes in the way we connect romantically with others is inevitably ripe for a revolution when Venus and the planet of awakening come into each other’s view.
The main take away from this Venus phase is to deepen our capacity to feel secure in the love that we currently have, while remaining open to alternative forms of intimacy.
