Neptune, planet of inspiration and deception, has exited Pisces for Arian turf, and Saturn is soon to follow. The migration from mutable water to cardinal fire is a jarring transition for both planets, and one of the most significant shifts we will see in the coming months will be a recalibration of our relationship to nostalgia. It is tempting to pine for simpler times when great change is afoot, but even the recent interest in a 'return to the analog' speaks to something different than pure wistfulness. Old technology and equipment are being sought out for the immediacy of their utility and functionality, which strikes a very Aries tone. There is the stirring of fire in our bellies that is beginning to tilt our gaze towards the rising sun, but today, as Venus makes its way into Pisces, we are granted permission to yearn.
Venus in Pisces LIVES to yearn. Its value system is constructed on compassion, on forgiveness and the fantasy of unconditional love. And with Mercury shortly set to station retrograde, we’d do ourselves an injustice by depriving ourselves of a quick trip down memory lane, a moment to ponder what might’ve been, or a chance to give ourselves grace for an erstwhile romantic or financial faux pax. The boundaries that blur when Venus is in Pisces incline us to grant absolution to others FIRST, occasionally at the expense of acknowledging (or sharing) our legitimate hurts or heartbreaks. We risk disappearing into that baptismal sea of empathy, forgetting that we, too, have a stake in matters, and we are allowed to feel some type of way about past joys and sorrows. The ability to suspend judgment is one of Venus in Pisces’ chief virtues, but we are entering a forward-thinking epoch, where romanticizing the past has consequences. We are leaving behind the nostalgia soup to build something better! Intentional (rather than well-intentioned) forgiveness, compassion, and love can be the basis for a new style of relating, one that does not attempt to recapture the 'magic' of the bygone, but that is instead rooted in building a more benevolent and humane future.
