Venus Enters Capricorn
Venus Enters Capricorn
23rd PST 00:51 / 23rd AEST 19:51
Today Venus enters pragmatic Capricorn, prompting us to ask, “are my desires realistic?” This is a sobering thought! After all, desire implies something that hasn’t yet been attained. It’s natural to dream big when we’re dealing in hypotheticals.
But while Venus transits Capricorn, we’re more aware of our vulnerabilities and therefore more protective of our hearts. Both materially and romantically, this is a moment of restraint, when we seek security over flattery or grand gestures. Those who want our company will have to put in the extra effort to scale our emotional walls now. But pulling up our heart’s drawbridge can also get the job done: only those who’ve demonstrated reliability and intentionality will gain entry. The risk is that love can become transactional in the process, but that might be a price we’re willing to pay if it weeds out those who come offering empty promises.
Venus will make two major aspects during its transit. Its trine to Uranus on February 7/8 will inspire (potentially kinky) romantic experimentation or spark exciting new relationships that are loving yet supportive of our sovereignty. Venus will also square the lunar nodes on February 6/7, urging us to choose between perpetuating deadening romantic patterns or daring to establish a new normal in love. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the sun has already done this dance with the nodes, and Mars and Mercury are set to make their squares in a few days. It’s an appropriate time to assess our options, as January invokes Janus, the deity of transitions, whose two faces respectively gaze to the past and the future. In this case, Venus in Capricorn maturity is a matter of consciously choosing how we want to love and BE loved.
