Uranus begins its five-month retrograde backspin today, the sixth retrograde that the planet of revolution and innovation has undertaken since it first entered Taurus in 2018. While in direct motion, Uranus’ transits provoke shocking events which disrupt our sense of security but ultimately offer greater individual and collective liberation. During its sojourn through Taurus, a fixed earth sign famous for its stubborn nature, evolution may seem more like an inconvenience!
Taurus is lush and lavish. It loves its creature comforts. Resultingly, Uranus has been a rather unwelcome guest, instigating environmental crises, supply chain disruptions, and market anxieties, all of which demand extra flexibility on our part. Security? Who is she? How can we possibly find footing when the world is figuratively, if not literally, going up in flames?
Fortunately, Uranus’ retrogrades offer an opportunity for introspection; a chance to ask ourselves the tough questions. Namely, how are my choices impacting, contributing to, or alleviating economic and environmental distress? While one person alone cannot control the weather or shift the state of the global economy, our actions DO have an impact. How we use our dollar and where we invest our resources (both financial and energetic) make a difference, even if that difference is only quantifiable within our household. When Uranus is direct, we often feel at the mercy of sweeping change. When Uranus is retrograde, which it will be until January 26/27 2024, revolutionary imperatives are experienced on an internal, psychological level. Instinctive breakthroughs reconfigure our priorities. Blows to our ego engender a sense of detachment from the material possessions and value judgments we assumed we had to cling to in order to survive. Rather than being shell-shocked by change, we acknowledge the transformational power of making proactive adjustments to our habits BEFORE our situation becomes dire.
