Sun conjunct Mars
Sun conjunct Mars
17th PST 21:41 / 18th AEDT 16:41
Today, our solar luminary, emblematic of ego and identity, collides with Mars, the planet of passion, assertion, and willpower. This is a volatile influence, but if properly channelled, a radical force for change. On an individual level, this transit affords us the concentration and drive to realize a coveted goal. One last courageous move (and a healthy disregard for authority) will land us in the driver's seat of our destiny.
But with these two fiery liaisons meeting in the sign of Scorpio, subterfuge is the name of the game, even if, for appearance's sake, we have maintained the optics of fair play. The real issue now is one of perception. Because, as we all know, there are at least two sides to every story, and history is often written by the victors.
The question we are wise to ask ourselves is whether we’ve earned this success of our merit. Have we won by initiative alone? Or did we make a few moves that we’re potentially less than proud of to get here? Did we attain authority through benevolence, or by force?
Scorpio threatens to reduce our narrative to black-and-white terms. As the sun and Mars align, we want more than anything to be remembered as the hero! But to be the hero, someone else has to play the bad guy. Otherwise, our story won’t carry as much weight. It won’t be relatable. No one wants to root for the bully. Therefore, we might fancy ourselves a White Hat in a Black Hat world. This branding is almost as important as the victory itself.
This isn’t to say that anyone who finally achieves a long-sought milestone today is a villain. Many of today's wins are well-deserved, a testament to our refusal to quit when the chips were down. But we must remain mindful that this achievement isn’t the end of the story, it’s just the beginning. Because now that we HAVE this power, what will we choose to DO with it?
