Mercury enters Aries
Mercury enters Aries

Following their superior conjunction, Mercury overtakes the sun, making its entrance into Aries in true heraldic fashion. After all, Mercury is the messenger-planet. It’s fitting that this ingress serves to announce the arrival of the luminary. Mercury is set to speed through this sign in just over two weeks, barely long enough for us to get our bearings. Its transit foreshadows impulsive statements, rash decisions, and ill-conceived strategies. Despite the somewhat helter-skelter nature of our movements and motivations, our intent is clear: we’re trying to get somewhere, and those who are not helping us to achieve our goals should move out of the way!
Mercury in Aries is not mean-spirited, it’s just blunt. A lack of tact can be considered impolite, but in truth, we're simply excited. And we require almost constant intellectual and social stimulation in order to combat creeping anxiety and existential FOMO. The speed at which connections (both mental and relational) form and disband in the coming days can be disorienting if we’re not somewhat steeled for a change of pace. By the time Mercury enters Taurus, we’ll be left with a feeling of whiplash, wondering, “Where did the time go?” as well as “What did I just agree to?”
The lesser-mentioned attribute of Mercury in Aries lies in hope. Nearly all of our decisions are galvanized by it. We hope for more, for better. We hope that our words and actions will deliver successful results. This is the signature of the motivational speaker, the warrior inspiring soldiers to battle, the romantic making an impassioned appeal to their lover. Hope drives us to become more than what we are. And because reality starts in the mind, the best way to become what you desire is to begin speaking as if the victory you seek has already been attained.
