Chiron Stations Retrograde

We’ve had a pretty jam-packed few months, cosmically speaking. Mercury’s retrograde. The outer planets locking into a series of never-before-recorded aspect patterns. The lunar nodes shifting into Aquarius and Leo, heralding a new eighteen-month cycle of pattern-breaking and awakening. We may not have paid much attention to what Chiron’s been up to, but then, Chiron is always paying attention to US.

Back on June 19/20 (when everyone’s gaze was fixed on the impending Mars-Uranus conjunction), Chiron entered Taurus, a sign which the centaur hasn’t stepped cloven hoof in since the early 1980’s. Because Chiron has an elliptical orbit, making its stays in different signs variable and, recently, lengthy, you likely didn’t feel its ingress in a pointed way.

But perhaps, as days passed, apprehensions began to arise. Your relationship to indulgence may have undergone a pivot. Or maybe you found your mind more frequently returning to the topic of comfort or self-worth or nourishment – and lacks thereof. Scarcity, and all the anxieties it whips up, might have prompted you to punish yourself in small ways, to guilt-trip or deny yourself a desire that you were entitled to enjoy. These are symptoms of Chiron in Taurus, and as Chiron goes retrograde, it would be prudent to note its pitfalls EARLY. You’ve gotten but a tiny taste of the mind games the seven next years have in store. So, take an inventory of your “haves” so as not to stumble into the mentality of a have-not. Honor where you are resourced and recognize where abstinence perpetuates cycles of poverty consciousness. Most importantly, place your values at the forefront of how you behave and act. Establishing good habits now will spare you a headache when the future Chironic hammer of self-scrutiny falls.
