Cancer new moon reflections:
‘Family line is healed within, emotions come and go but experience is what remains’
I’m taking a break from sharing much this new moon, I'm feeling a bit out of sorts with all that has been going on. A double Cancer sky usually does that for me and my Pisces moon. A journey deep into the cosmic womb. This space often has no words.
This new moon takes us into to heart/womb of something, old ancestral lines, a seeping into the earth to feel her rhythm, perceived concepts of home, family and belonging, healing the roots; being human. It will take some time to surface. Something is trying to be born, I have little words and want to honour the importance of that. It is a dark moon after all.
Floating on an ocean of feeling, following threads into the unknown in attempt to pinpoint the origin of a pattern.
The human experience can be wondrous, and completely overwhelming at the same time.
There is a sense this moon will reveal a new level of relationship to being human, understanding soul contracts and how to nourish our own imperfect experience.
With the moon widely opposing Pluto, trining Neptune and squaring Chiron, waves form and wash up deeper layers. It is an emotional time, but one that is ultimately transformative and healing given space.
Some notes I have left myself for traversing this new moon (and part of my self nourishment strategy), which may also be helpful for you:
Ground.
Create space.
Take time.
Honour what you are feeling.
Move your body.
Eat consistently.
Run a bath.
Forest bathe.
Digital break.
Nourish yourself with love, don’t wait for love from others.
Life is a constant work in progress, this is a big energy, take a lot of care and be gentle through your process.

Astrologer Colin Bedell says:
Is home a place … or a feeling? Is it an experience? When we think of any Cancer transit, we tend to focus on home, family, and belonging. Which is completely necessary. Though since Cancer is the first water sign in Astrology and thus introduces the emotional experience in our lives, I want to imagine Cancer as not only the home but also the invitation, permission, and acceptance to feel.
As you read this, I want you to ask yourself how often you give yourself an invitation to feel the full spectrum of human emotion without judgement, criticism, should or shouldn’ts, etc. So often we assign good/bad, positive/negative valence to our emotions and I think Cancer wants us to feel first, assign meaning later. Since Cancer is the one and only cardinal water sign in Astrology, it introduces the value of emotional acceptance and recognition. We often complicate our personal, relational, and professional outcomes by denying, suppressing, or acting too impulsively on our emotional instinct. So a Cancer ruled transit asks us to sit with the emotion but not act from it .. just yet.
When it comes to a New Moon which asks for a careful reimagining, we are asked to apply new ideas, intentions, and strategies for the sign the New Moon is in. For the New Moon in Cancer, we want to think about new ideas on home. I like to liken “home” as a feeling of self-acceptance. And the transits around this New Moon in Cancer ask for self-acceptance too.
We’re just out of the post-Mercury Retrograde retrograde period and this week’s Venus-Saturn opposition and Venus-Uranus square asked us to accept our desires/wants/boundaries in relationships. This New Moon in cardinal Cancer is in the middle of a some tense squares and oppositions to the fixed signs which can feel unyielding and a little dogmatic if not careful. So let this New Moon help us accept our legitimacies while recognizing it comes with its liabilities which need to be discussed too with people we’re in agreement with.
“Self-acceptance” as a concept can feel a little gauzy and lack the gravitas that its integration can yield on the level of result. So I’ll try to take the point home with a helpful idea by Dr. Brene Brown who wrote, “..our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.” So if “home” is the process of self-acceptance, we don’t have to pretend, perform, people-please, perfect, or hustle. We can begin to cultivate belonging wherever we are because we belong so fully to self; we are at home with our emotions and thus we find belonging with others and create the experience Cancer takes a stand for.
