Venus spends just shy of five weeks in the sign of the fishes – a lengthier timeframe as Venus is currently slowing down in preparation to station retrograde. The love planet won’t turn around until early March in the sign of Aries, but it will re-enter Pisces at March’s end, shortly after becoming an evening star. That’s something to keep in mind as we embark upon Venus in Pisces Part 1.
Venus in Pisces brings us from Saturn to Jupiter-ruled territory. This is where Venus is considered exalted. Here, romance is poetic, idealistic and often enigmatic. Pisces compels transcendence, forcing Venus to stretch beyond materiality.
Love springs eternal during Venus in Pisces, but maybe not in the way we’d expect. And while, yes, idealism can lend to classic Venus in Pisces pitfalls, like pedestalizing a lover or allowing boundaries to problematically blur, love can also manifest in surprising ways, through acts of forgiveness, release or acceptance of a harsh truth.
We might find renewed inspiration for a creative practice. We might recommit to a spiritual path. We might realize that clinging to a romanticized version of a past relationship isn’t allowing us to deepen a new bond. Knowing what cannot be 'saved' and giving up the ghost might be the most compassionate thing we can do – for others and for ourselves.
The greatest love stories are typically bound up with tragedy. Venus in Pisces elegantly conveys that all beauty is ephemeral. Holding on too tight is the trap – the Piscean illusion. Immersing yourself in the experience despite the inevitability of impermanence is the higher expression.
