Venus Enters Cancer

Venus enters the sign of the crab and will spend roughly the next four weeks soaking in its tide pools. The goddess of love doesn’t vacillate here the same way that it does in Gemini, where variety is the spice of life, and desires take on minds of their own. However, Cancer IS a moon-ruled sign, and Venus is subject to the moon’s mood swings as it migrates through the zodiac, adapting its priorities every two-ish days.

So, it’s not that we don’t know what we want now, or that our desires aren’t consistent, it’s just that we’re a lot more *emotional* about matters of the heart, and money too. Our attractions and aesthetics are tied to something transient, yet in Cancer, Venus craves consistency of character. It demands loyalty. Its instincts are heightened, alert to every alteration in behavior or tone. We MUST be alert to these things; how are we supposed to protect the people we love if we are not attentive? It is therefore easier to imagine threats to our security while Venus transits Cancer, especially when romances or relationships don’t go according to plan (which is often).

Be mindful of where sensitivity can suffocate, or where mothering impulses makes you unable to care for someone in the way they need care. In fact, that's an excellent Venus in Cancer rule of thumb: avoid assuming what others want. And resist providing what another is incapable of receiving with gratitude (i.e. the shell off your back)! The tendency to put yourself last in the hope that another will recognize your contributions and put you first is a dangerous game to play. The safety and security you're looking for will be easier to attain if others respect you, which means honoring your non-negotiables and affirming your own boundaries BEFORE attempting to cater to others.
