Sun Enters Cancer

Family, we all have one but the way each individual sinks into specific roles within them is so vastly unique to the shared experience. Once upon a time there was a blueprint for how to construct a family unit with neat little boxes that housed what each participants job was within the structure. This system worked for most, suffocated some, and offered a societal reference point for what to expect out of the future. In the western world this arrangement has been slowly deconstructed, exposing a soft white underbelly by the antagonists to the system. This year, Cancer season is for the outliers.

 

While the Sun travels through Cancer it will make a series of aspects to Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and the personal planets in a way that forces a grand hard look at not just the roots, but the soil in which our views towards the concept of family were planted. The Full Moon in Capricorn on the 29th sheds light on how we have internalized familial and societal expectations while the New Moon in Cancer on the 14th of July allows space to integrate a new discourse around those expectations.

 

Collectively, we may find it intriguing to understand the origin story of a thing and finding historical context inspiring. The lore of the past draws us into a time that begs to be remembered, feeling the pings of nostalgia. Friendships and childhood memories come to surface bringing with them an invitation to recall parts of ourselves we thought were lost forever.
