Saturn begins its four-month+ retrograde in the sign of Pisces, disrupting our relationship to time – as if time hasn’t been nebulous enough lately! Saturn is the planet of karma, authority and limitation – forces that we often try to circumvent but which also afford us structure. Stable boundaries are agents of growth and evolution. In this regard, Saturn encourages us to take responsibility for our choices so that we might mature into our own capacity for authority. It may, therefore, be appropriate to consider Saturn retrograde as a kind of cosmic audit.
How well have you been managing your responsibilities? Are career goals in sight or has momentum stalled? How about your family obligations? Are duties slipping through the cracks? What about your passions? Have you been honoring them, finding ways to balance pleasure and productivity? Or perhaps it’s your health, mental or physical, that requires some extra consideration.
If your affairs are in good order, Saturn will now reward you for your diligence. But chances are, you’ll be called to task where lethargy or impracticality (less positive Piscean attributes) have steered your decision-making.
Saturn transits can bring up anxiety and its retrograde in starry-eyed Pisces can deliver a rude wake-up call. It could be that we’ve been checked out for some time. The sudden awareness of our apparent dissociation can trigger hypochondria and inspire fear-based overcorrections. Instead of throwing the kitchen sink at problems that creep into your consciousness, allow yourself to sit with the sensation. This thing that isn’t working may be a relatively easy fix. Keep in mind that Saturn is calling it to your attention to PROVIDE you with more agency, not to rob you of it.
