Saturn Enters Aries

Saturn enters Aries

Saturn’s entrance to Aries occupies a significant square on this year’s astrological bingo card, which is saying something considering 2025’s packed slate of cosmic happenings. Saturn is the planet of limitation and karma, doling out rewards to the disciplined and retribution to those in the habit of shirking personal responsibility. Well-aspected or not, Saturn often points to fears, however, it also builds competence through teachable moments and tests of resiliency. What we initially fear can be mastered – this is the Saturnian lesson.
Saturn’s transit through Pisces has been about trying (often fruitlessly) to construct boundaries in energetic terrain that eschews structure and form. The past three years forced us to redraw distinctions between fantasy and reality, and to redefine what 'making progress' actually means. Trying to establish a legacy during Saturn in Pisces has been like trying to build a house on a cloud — aspirational but vexing.
Now, with Saturn in Aries, we’re about to run into a different, but equally frustrating problem: what does 'making progress' mean in a sign that lacks the concept of playing the long game?
Imagine trying to make plans with a mayfly, a creature that only lives for a day. What will you two talk about? The future? If communication is to happen, you both would have to come to a new consensus about time, what it means, and how to leverage it. This is the rub of Saturn in Aries. How do we plan ahead? CAN we even plan ahead? This transit demands radical self-ownership. It requires being accountable for our actions from the moment we wake up until we get in bed and turn off the light. If this were your last day on earth (a la the mayfly) can you say you did everything in your power to leave the world better than you found it?
To this end, unchecked egos are cruising for a beat down. It’s important to look back at Saturn’s past few stints in Aries for context — from 1937-1940 (gulp), 1967-1969 (oof), and 1996-1999 (slightly less oof, but still) — periods where egos, especially the egos of those in leadership positions, were checked, deservingly. Yet this only happened when the population, at large, exercised their own autonomy to reject authoritarianism, injustice or political theatre.
There is much more to be said, and it will be said, about Saturn in Aries in the days ahead. From now until 2028, we are tasked with negotiating expectations around our creativity and productivity. We must recognize that false starts do not foreshadow failures and that our energy is not an endless fount (or even a renewable resource, necessarily). Simplification is our soundest strategy for success. When in doubt, bring your focus to the present, bring your vision back to basics and bring your A game.
