Saturn Conjunct Neptune

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, a place of initiation and planting seeds. It’s where we meditate on the 'I' of it all – who we are and what differentiates us from others. But Saturn and Neptune, they are ancient. Saturn is the lord of time and karma, and Neptune blurs material bounds. When they converge, reality meets utopian meaning-making. Together, they form a vector that brings the unmanifest into manifestation; particularly useful for the creatives and innovators among us. 

Saturn and Neptune meet every 36 years, but they haven’t met in Aries since 1703, and they haven’t aligned on Aries' 0 degree in recorded history. The 0 degree of any sign is considered a 'crisis point,' because beginnings and endings are transitional. They occupy the margins, where we are forced to grapple with the painful obsolescence of ideals, beliefs, and goals. In this way, the 0 degree is a degree of grief and mourning as much as it is one of new beginnings. In our relationships and work, we should be mindful now of a tendency to fill empty space with activity (a placeholder for a phantom limb). We might wish to preserve the illusion of normalcy, but there is nothing ordinary about our present state. This means that we possess more individual power than we are used to, but we are virtually unpracticed at leveraging it!

Until we identify our unique way of picking up the torch, the early aftermath of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction will have us feeling completely disoriented. The upside: there is tremendous potential for self-reinvention here. We get to decide what it means to be a hero, then we can BECOME the hero instead of praying for another to save us. But first we must get EXCITED about what the future holds. To that end, Neptune prescribes hope and Saturn, patience.
