Pluto backslides into Capricorn today, it’s final dalliance with the sign of the sea goat for the rest of our lifetime! The planet of shadow-excavation and psycho-spiritual renewal will transit Capricorn’s final three degrees until October 10/11. At this point, it will station direct, retracing its steps until January 20, 2024, before entering Aquarius for the next 20 years.
The coming months are a swan song. Although we perceive that we are on the precipice of a new story, resist the urge to read ahead. It’s worthwhile to reflect upon what has been alchemized on a personal and a collective level since Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008. Because Pluto’s movements are so gradual, yet carry so much kinetic force, a wholesale churning of reality follows in its wake. When we engage with Pluto, we are engaging in a recycling process. Pluto’s transits are an exercise in intimacy, which is something generally lost when assessing its movements. 248 years from now, astrologers will be analyzing our lived experiences through historical data points, facts and figures. Divorced from its immediacy, both the brutality and the beauty of Pluto’s seismic impact will be lost. The next seven months are an invitation to review all the ways Pluto’s Capricorn passage has transformed us, even if this transformation has been unwelcome, unasked-for, and unexpected.
