Mercury Rx Enters Scorpio
Mercury Rx Enters Scorpio
18th PST 7:21 PM / 19th AEDT 2:21 PM
Mercury last exited Scorpio on October 29, and as it entered Sagittarius, it opposed Uranus in Gemini. Communication conflicts that flared up around this date carried the quality of fire and air: dynamic, unpredictable, volatile. Today, retrograde Mercury slips back into Scorpio, and clashes with Uranus again, except now Uranus has re-entered Taurus for its final stint in fixed earth. This time around, tensions don’t blaze, they ossify.
Rather than blurting out something we may regret or running with a bold idea, regardless of its feasibility (a la Sagittarius), Mercury in Scorpio thrusts us into patterns of thinking that can slant conspiratorial, paranoid or suspicious. People that we have been in negotiations with suddenly go quiet. Texts are left on read. We get the uneasy feeling that talks are still happening, we’re just not at the table.
The goal of Mercury’s retrogrades, always, is to get us reexamining our ideas and reevaluating our communication habits. The landscape has already been edgy enough with Mercury and Mars traveling in lockstep for the better part of a month, and if disruption is the catalyst for building back better, so be it. Uranus is an agent of chaos but also of revitalization if used well. The admissions it is trying to coax out of tight-lipped Scorpio Mercury via the element of surprise must be voiced.
Others' motives (and our own) won’t remain obscured for long. November 20’s alignment between the sun and Mercury reveals the real reason for a communication breakdown. Sources are exposed, and relationships reevaluated. Mercury remains in Scorpio, facilitating difficult but necessary conversations, until December 11/12.
