Mercury Enters Virgo

Mercury enters Virgo
2nd PDT 6:23 AM / 2nd AEST 11:23 PM
After an unusually lengthy stay in Leo, thanks to its recent retrograde, messenger-planet Mercury enters the sign of its domicile and exaltation. While modern astrology considers a planet to be exalted by sign, planets technically claim their exaltation on specific degrees. Mercury is exalted on the 15th degree of Virgo. This is where Mercury is said to function most effectively.
Mercury is currently accelerating to align with the sun in their superior conjunction. It enters Virgo 'under the beams', or within 15 degrees of the sun, where a planet’s expression would ordinarily be weakened. Yet, because Mercury is in domicile, it is 'in chariot' or protected from the debilitating influence of the sun’s heat, light and power. This is ideal, as the sun is soon to be involved in two eclipses, stripping us of the Virgo composure we’re accustomed to this time of year.
Being unafflicted, Mercury in Virgo can help us to keep a clear head even while relationships or plans are going sideways. We greet the eclipses prepared to take inventory, crack a code or solve a puzzle. Although breakdowns and breakthroughs may rattle us emotionally and therefore inspire out-of-character moves, we are also able, courtesy of Virgo Mercury, to observe objectively from a distance. We may be surprised by how well we are capable of communicating. Words can come *through* us, as if channelled by a more mature version of ourselves who has already crunched the numbers. And while we might not know the best path forward now, we will ultimately be discerning enough to identify the WRONG paths. Closure is the vibe.
Mercury will speed run Virgo in just over two weeks. By the time the Virgo solar eclipse rolls around, the sun will answer to Mercury in Libra, casting a very different tone!
