Mercury enters Aquarius

Over the next few weeks as Mercury traverses revolutionary Aquarius, creative and inventive interests are best explored collaboratively. Community connections may develop and friendships blossom, yet these relationships likely already have a basis in shared hobbies or beliefs. One of the gifts of this transit lies in its ability to dissolve intellectual barriers, supporting conversations with those who hold *different* ideological views. Even if we can’t fully put ourselves in another’s shoes, we are better able to appreciate why they think the way they do. 

“Detached” is the label often assigned to Aquarian placements. However, it’s not that we are dispassionate when the messenger planet slips into this terrain; we are more objective, refusing to permit emotional bias to dictate our decisions. Mercury in Aquarius awakens us to the reality that others have different lived experiences. Complex ethical architecture typically undergirds opinions which we have reduced to bullet points for the sake of convenience or criticism.  

Our acknowledgement of this truth humanizes those who we’ve previously regarded as caricatures. This is a perfect time to sit with and interrogate our prejudices, and one of the most favorable transits for rewiring our neural pathways. A willingness to adapt our initial hypothesis makes the days ahead ideal for experimental artistic or scientific endeavors, learning new subject matter, or having intelligent discussions tackling controversial topics. 

We can expect to restructure our positions and priorities in the coming weeks, first as Mercury squares the lunar nodes, then electrifying Uranus, between February 15/16 and February 21/22. Forks in the road, technological upsets, surprise news, and eureka! moments are promised. Outmoded interests combust and scatter to the winds. A supportive trine to Mars on February 22/23 accelerates enthusiasm for conquest and conversation. And Mercury’s alignment with Saturn on March 2/3 shortly before it makes its ingress into Pisces solidifies an arrangement. This is a period to consider the impact of your words.
