Mars Stations Direct

Mars Stations Direct
23rd PST 6:00 PM / 24th AEDT 1:00 PM
Mars has been stationary on Cancer’s 17th degree for the past twelve days, calling to mind the image of a boat at sea with no wind to help move it along. It turns out that there’s a term for regions near the equator where infrequent winds strand ships: the Doldrums.
That’s right. The colloquial term for feeling listless or unenthusiastic has its roots in this nautical expression. Both kinds of doldrums are characterized by periods of inactivity, punctuated by squalls – atmospheric or emotional. Sound familiar?
Much like Odysseus, Mars’ retrograde has blown us clear back to our original destination, terrain last surveyed in early October 2024. And here we’ve sat. If the past two weeks have felt especially stagnant, Mars’ station is the likely culprit. However, a supportive trine from Saturn has been active since the tail end of January, a reminder that patience and discipline can help us to maintain our sea legs in unpredictable waters.
But today, after eleven weeks, Mars makes its about-face. And suddenly – a breeze! Mars direct is not a panacea. It does not promise immediate success. Nor will it provide us with a clear sense of direction. Mars in Cancer is governed by the moon, the same moon that changes signs roughly every two days. Think back to last October and consider how fragmented attention pulled you between too many competing interests and enterprises. This is still a hazard.
What Mars direct *does* promise is the return of energy, inspiration and passion by degrees. The sensation of being stuck, fatigued or even powerless will diminish. For now, feel your way forward. Navigate thoughtfully. Your instincts are your best compass. Expect strong gusts to catch sails come mid-April.
