Today, Neptune, the planet of imagination, inspiration, and the subconscious mind, stations retrograde for the next five months. Its entire backspin will span just three degrees of Pisces, territory which has been Neptune’s home since 2011 and will remain so until early 2026.

Pisces is Neptune’s domicile, and the planet of magic essentially has free reign in its limitless domain. This transit communicates that there are infinite possibilities contained within the present moment. At any time, we can shift our relationship to reality by daring to conceive its potential instead of becoming preoccupied with its apparent fixed and unchanging nature.
Yet while Neptune is direct, illusions and delusions are particularly potent. Unchecked idealism can obstruct our better judgement. We can get lost in distractions or abstractions, failing to see a situation for what it is. Neptune retrograde effectively “lifts the veil”, allowing us to see the truth of a matter, even if that truth is disappointing. It is important to note that Neptune is retrograde for nearly half the year. One way or another, all of us will have to grapple with the rose coloured glasses coming off in the near future. The important thing is HOW we conduct ourselves when they do.

This is not the time for lamenting our circumstances. Rather, Neptune retrograde is an invitation to empower ourselves by acknowledging poetic truths and shoring up our psychic armour! Neptune’s ongoing sextile to Pluto can help us in this exercise, supporting contemplation and preventing us from spiralling into paranoia. Buying into false promises or bad sales pitches, or generally speaking, falling victim to deception, doesn’t make us stupid. We’re humans, and our human inclination is to give others the benefit of the doubt until we are given reason not to. Until December 6/7 of this year, Neptune retrograde asks us to mind our spiritual integrity and fortify our energetic boundaries, so dishonesty cannot derail us.
