Jupiter begins its four-month retrograde voyage in Cancer. Presently, the great benefic is trining the great malefic (Saturn), an aspect which has been active since mid-October and will remain active until mid-December. Expansion and contraction, optimism and pragmatism, are in balance here. Subsequently, how we leverage or express watery concepts like emotion, intuition and imagination may be more lucid now. We are aware of our limits, and while we’re encouraged by the promise of future prospects, we’re not necessarily seeking to push our luck or inclined to count chickens before they hatch.
Therefore, this Jupiter retrograde might bear less of a sting than recent retrogrades in other signs. For one thing, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, and our sights are already set on simpler hallmarks of success; are we safe and secure? Are our loved ones safe and secure? For another, Jupiter retrogrades often manifest in a bubble bursting; in stalled progress, botched launches or dreams deferred. Yet, because Jupiter has been holding a trine to Saturn, our expectations are already tempered. Some air has already been let out of our balloon, so we’re a little deflated, but not dejected.
The result: we KNOW that we have to make our own fortune, but we also know that our vision is achievable. Immediate gratification may not be in the cards, but hope is alive! And even better: we can pace our energy and avoid burning ourselves out during the holiday season. One word of caution: it might be wise to scale back on travel plans or rethink extending the dates of family reunions (a few days could suffice, especially if YOU’RE the one playing host.)
Jupiter will be retrograde until March 10/11, 2026.
