Where did the creative direction for the 2027 edition begin?
It always begins with a feeling, before there are colours or names.
The Veiled One appeared first. She became our new colour, Ultra Violet. A combination of semi-futuristic and old energy. Morphing and shapeshifting, but on the verge of something new, something we haven't yet experienced.
She stands where the veil grows thin. Reveals what has always existed beyond ordinary perception. The unseen becoming seen.
I sat with her for a long time before I understood what she was asking for. Ultra Violet isn't just a mood, it's a real thing - a spectrum of light that our eyes were never built to see, but moths, bees and many other creatures navigate by, it exists alongside us and is revealed under different light. That felt like the whole point of this work. Nothing about our time here is hidden from us, we just need different ways of seeing.
And then the Alchemist came into the field. With the ability to alter form, to process our current reality and then change it to create our future. Turning matter into meaning and working with the hidden laws of nature, transforming wisdom into lived experience. She became Emerald, and that wasn't an accident. The Emerald Tablet is where 'as above, so below' originates from, the line this whole practice rests upon. It felt right that the source finally had a cover of its own.
They both seem to be messengers, and that is a strong theme that shows up throughout all of my personal creative work, painting, illustration etc. There's a shamanic nature to creativity and how it carries me on a journey. Or maybe I'm just a little crazy?
Either way, my job is to just follow.
How did that first thread become the visual world of the 2027 planner?
When reflecting on the creative journey each edition takes me, and how I carry that forward into the physical manifestation it becomes, I realise that I am indeed practicing magic. I pull these images and ideas formed through intention, alchemise them further infused with more intention, and then let them go out into the world.
There are many layers to this. There's the actual logistical flow of data input, design, many, many hours of proofing. Three versions of every page for three time zones. Every single day of the year interpreted and typed in by hand. And then the layers of archetypal journeys through planets, myth and other sprites that show up along the way.
Every year I do my own personal ritual while working on each planner, and part of that, practised from the very beginning, is a three card oracle pull that always mirrors the energetic quality of the journey to materialisation.
There is a certain type of flow I get into when nearing the end of my work that pulls all of the chaos into order, where I think most of the magic happens, and then it is ready for print.
This is when that card pull is most potent and reveals the character of the series. Everything is animate!
Chaos into order. Then it goes to our printer, and it isn't mine anymore.

Were there details or decisions in the 2027 edition that became especially meaningful to you?
The things I'm most attached to are the ones nobody would put on a feature list.
The feeling of holding so much wisdom and planetary portals in your hands when picking up this book for the first time, it still surprises me 8 years in. It truly feels magical and like anything is possible. Being very tactile and drawn to quality materials (Capricorn Venus here), the way the physical feels is beyond important. I’ve been through thousands of swatches to find the right materials with the right credentials to honor the weight of specialness for this book. Every detail had to feel right. I’m a printer’s nightmare, but believe they become better because of it.
The first page. Before a single day unfolds on a page, there's a line that reads ‘This almanac belongs to’ with a space for your Sun, Moon and Rising - making it yours. And underneath it, ‘Dream wide awake’ - that's my whole wish for you in three words.
The place where you really make the planner yours and infuse it with your life, is where you fill in your own birthchart. There is something magical about writing out our own charts on a page, even if it's for the 8th time, inscribing your energetic fingerprint deepens your own wisdom of it.
The Planetary Movements table. It's small and most people will skim past it, but for 2027 it's a receipt. Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto don’t change signs at any point in 2027. The first semi-stable year after years of changes. The year still has its retrogrades and its weather, but it's the kind of quiet fact that changes how you think about life moving, and it's printed right there. The landscape has already changed, how we choose to move within it is up to us. The planner now becomes a companion for navigating a transformation that is already unfolding.
Thirteen new moons in 2027. Thirteen beginnings, and a space for every one.
Every month there's a New Moon Intentions page and a Full Moon Illuminations page. The same moons, the same printed lines, in every copy. Which means around the same time, tens of thousands of people are opening the same page to the same sky. The power of collective intention is highly underrated! 'The Power of Eight' explores this very idea, how intention held collectively may become more powerful than intention held alone, even if they are personal, but follow similar threads. I think about that often and how special that is.
Some of the themes that were present during the making of the 2027 edition seem to mirror our astrological journey and the thresholds we are crossing. I could say a lot more about the concepts behind the new colours, but that might be over-sharing. Some of it is for you to add meaning to, the ones who hold and use this book.
Now the 2027 planners are finished and heading out into the world, how does it feel to let this edition go?
Honestly, this one's been different and definitely had it’s challenges.
I've been reshaped by motherhood. My regular workday or creative deep dive no longer exists in the form they used to. Creativity looks different now, splintered and scattered into bite sized moments, but perhaps even more potent because time has shrunk, and values have sharpened into only the most important. There's no room for fluff. There never really was, it's just so much more vibrant and clear now.
Time is different now. All the more reason to understand the interconnection of overlapping cycles and connection.
So letting this one go feels less like a big launch and more like handing something over. The year is charted, intentions are infused. Everything that matters now gets written in by you.
I question whether to keep going with this work. But I know that tapping into an ancient wisdom the body already knows, and a system that helps crystallise what is ineffable, helps us all navigate great moving tides as we live and breathe through moments never to be repeated again, on the wheel of time, all part of this Great Mystery.
What I hope you carry into 2027 is that you're not doing it alone. Same book, same sky, a lot of us keeping it at the same time. Family, the natural kind and the found kind. And that you feel hopeful, expansive, excited at the endless possibilities of what your life is, and can be.
Dream wide awake.
From an under-slept new mother experiencing a new version of time,
