Sun Enters Scorpio

The sun enters Scorpio and, as it does so, aligns with Venus retrograde on Scorpio’s zero degree. The zero degree of any sign is one of initiations and new beginnings and yet Venus is still moving backwards as it receives the sun’s illumination, indicating a realization in media res. This is also the point where Venus becomes a morning star, and so the symbolism is multifaceted: while we are self-sufficient, self-governing, powerful individuals, we are also the by-product of our relationships, the good and bad.

Scorpio season invites us to explore vulnerability, intimacy, and our resistance to both. We've divulged secret pieces of ourselves to a select few, and our exchanges with these people have colored our character, provided the foundation of our backstories, and dictated our future priorities. The person who we are is, in large part, a reflection of our hopes, disappointments and collaborative victories in partnership. Therefore, being willing to share of ourselves this season is the most transformative act; one which kick-starts the birth-death-rebirth cycle that Scorpio is so well-known for expediting.

And the further we progress into Scorpio season, the more transformative potential is on the table, as Mercury’s own retrograde follows shortly. Now is a time for hard conversations that defy easy resolution. It’s a time for expressing what you’ve been scared to reveal and living with the consequences (but not the regret of never having laid your soul bare). This is a time to exhume old hurts for analysis and recognition rather than for closure. Scorpio is allergic to closure! So seek awareness instead. Seek to pump blood back into a heart hardened from disenchantment. There is no finality here, but there is resurrection, if you play your cards right.
